VEIKONG VFD500 output frequency is stable when the others are fluctuating. Also output current is less than others, that’s why output frequency is higher too which can save more energy.

Product Description

Product Overview

The VEIKONG CH530 Series is a high-performance vector variable frequency drive developed specifically for cranes, hoists, winches, and other lifting equipment. It combines precise motor control with dedicated crane functions to support safe lifting, smooth lowering, stable low-speed operation, and reliable mechanical brake coordination.

The CH530 operates with a three-phase AC 380V–480V power supply and covers a power range from 0.75kW to 710kW. It supports asynchronous motors and permanent magnet synchronous motors, making it suitable for both new crane systems and equipment modernization projects.

For demanding hoisting applications, the drive integrates professional brake sequence control, high starting torque, anti-slip control, zero-servo protection, and automatic speed adjustment according to the actual load.

Professional Brake Sequence Control

Accurate coordination between the motor and mechanical brake is essential in crane hoisting applications. If the brake is released before sufficient motor torque is established, the suspended load may slip or move unexpectedly.

The CH530 controls brake release and application according to the drive’s output frequency, output current, and preset delay times. Before releasing the mechanical brake, the drive can establish the required pre-torque to support the suspended load.

During stopping, the drive coordinates motor deceleration with mechanical brake application. Adjustable brake-release and brake-closing delays allow the control sequence to be optimized according to the motor, brake response time, load condition, and crane mechanism.

High Starting Torque at Zero Speed

The CH530 supports V/F control, sensorless vector control, and closed-loop vector control with encoder feedback.

Under closed-loop vector control, the drive can provide up to 150% starting torque at 0Hz. This enables the motor to generate sufficient torque before the mechanical brake is released, providing stable starting performance for hoists, winches, and other equipment that starts with a suspended load.

Powerful low-speed torque also supports smooth lifting and lowering without sudden movement or excessive mechanical impact.

Anti-Slip Control

The integrated anti-slip function helps reduce unexpected load movement during startup, stopping, lifting, and lowering.

By maintaining stable motor torque during the brake-release process and low-speed operation, the CH530 helps prevent the load from slipping because of insufficient starting torque or improper coordination between the motor and mechanical brake.

This feature is especially useful for electric hoists, heavy-duty winches, mining hoists, and industrial crane lifting mechanisms.

Zero-Servo Protection

The zero-servo function provides additional protection when the crane is stopped.

If the mechanical brake does not close correctly or cannot provide sufficient holding force, the drive can detect motor shaft movement. It can then generate holding torque to help maintain the current load or trolley position while issuing an alarm.

This function does not replace the mechanical brake, but it provides an additional control layer for detecting abnormal movement and improving lifting-system safety.

Automatic Speed Adjustment Based on Load

The CH530 can automatically adjust the operating speed according to the actual load condition.

When the detected load is light, the drive can increase the operating speed to shorten the lifting cycle and improve handling efficiency. When the load is heavy or an overload condition is detected, the drive reduces the operating speed to protect the motor, drive, brake, and mechanical transmission system.

This allows the crane to operate efficiently under different load conditions without compromising equipment protection.

Smooth Acceleration and Deceleration

Both linear and S-curve acceleration and deceleration are supported. Four groups of acceleration and deceleration times can be configured for different operating stages and crane movements.

Smooth speed transitions help reduce:

  • Mechanical shock during starting and stopping
  • Load swing during speed changes
  • Stress on the gearbox and coupling
  • Impact on the wire rope and mechanical brake
  • Wear on wheels and travelling mechanisms

Crane Application Macros

The CH530 provides dedicated parameter macros for common crane applications. These macros simplify initial setup and provide a practical starting point for commissioning.

Application macros can be used for:

  • Hoisting and lowering
  • Trolley travel
  • Bridge travel
  • Tower crane slewing

After selecting the appropriate macro, the commissioning engineer can adjust the motor, brake, speed, and control parameters according to the actual equipment.
